As part of Double Impact’s birthday celebrations, the 20th Anniversary Spirit of Recovery Awards took place at Nottingham’s magnificent Park Plaza Hotel. This event represented a special opportunity to highlight the incredible work that goes on to support recovery from addiction in services and in our local communities. Thank you to our partners and friends of recovery who helped make it all happen.
The Spirit of Recovery Awards celebrated some of the incredible personal achievements realised by people in recovery at the same time as honouring the amazing work which goes on within our own and other services. The event also gave the opportunity to reflect on the growth of the charity and share some key moments from its history. For more info about this please visit our Timeline page.
Awards were presented in the following categories: Volunteer Of The Year, Mentor Of The Year, Employment Champion, Creative Recovery, Recovery Team, Community Champion, Partnership Award, Exceptional Recovery Worker, Extraordinary Achievement, Going the Extra Mile and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Amongst the winners were Julie Crosby, who works as a Service Manager in Nottingham Recovery Network, who picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award for her services to Recovery for over 25 years. The Treat Kitchen were awarded the Employment Champion Award for their support in getting people back into the employment market. Addaction won the Partnership Award for their work in delivering recovery with Double Impact in Lincolnshire. Formula One Gym in Nottingham received the Community Champion Award for supporting our service users in achieving healthier lifestyles for many years. A huge well done to everyone who was nominated or won an award.
The awards ceremony was attended by service users, staff, partners, employers, businesses and community organisations who are connected with the work of the Charity. The ceremony and celebrations received generous sponsorship from The Park Plaza Nottingham, Buckles Solicitor, Keith Willis Associates, Magnet Insurance, The Treat Kitchen and Smellie Savage Computers. A huge thank you for their support.
Graham Miller, CEO said,
"Today’s event was very special and I think everyone there was both moved and uplifted by the many examples of individual courage and dedication to recovery from addiction. The past 20 years have been an amazing journey and our heartfelt thanks, congratulations and acknowledgement go to every single service user, volunteer, staff member and supporter who has been involved along the way!"
