IPS Employment Specialist
Location: Northampton, Daventry, Brackley & surrounding areas
Employer: Double Impact (West Northamptonshire Drug & Alcohol Partnership)
Salary: £29,244 with progression potential to £33,880 per year
Hours: Full-time


Role Overview
Double Impact is seeking a motivated IPS Employment Specialist to support individuals in
structured substance use treatment to find and retain meaningful employment. You will receive
full training in the IPS (Individual Placement and Support) model—an internationally recognised,
evidence-based approach used across UK treatment services and health settings.


Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of approximately 25 clients in structured treatment who are
motivated to start or return to work.
Begin employer contact and job search activity quickly—within 4 weeks of engagement.
Build relationships with local employers and promote clients’ strengths and work
readiness.
Provide personalised, ongoing support to both clients and employers. This may include:
o employer education
o return-to-work planning
o negotiating workplace adjustments
o job retention support


Offer basic advice and signposting around welfare benefits to support informed
decisions.
Embed the IPS approach within the treatment service by attending team meetings and
working closely with clinical staff.


About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
Knowledge of the IPS model (or willingness to research it).
Experience supporting people or helping them move forward.
Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with a wide range of people—
from clients to CEOs.
Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
Passion, drive, commitment and a positive attitude.
Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with substance use issues.
Ability to work well in a target-driven environment.
Strong written, verbal and organisational skills.
Full driving licence (essential).

45p/mile for electric vehicles or engines ≤1.3CC
54p/mile for engines ≥1.4CC
Monday–Friday schedule
