We provide a single point of advice, support and treatment for anyone in Nottingham City who wishes to change their relationship with alcohol or drugs
Senior Substance Use Practitioner
(Nottingham Recovery Network, Nottingham City)Location: Wellbeing Hub (Triage Team),73 Hounds Gate, Nottingham but based across the City Centre Nottingham, Hospital Liaison NUH, Primary Care and other care settings to meet the needs of the service, some travelling may be required across the city.
Salary: Full Time Equivalent £29,970 with progression opportunity to £36,483 per annum plus 35 days holiday (includes Bank Holidays) increasing with service

An exciting opportunity has become available within the highly motivated and ever developing Triage team for a Senior Substance Use Practitioner to support our work to further expand into the community with a focus on the cycle of change and engaging specific and previously under-represented groups into treatment.
The Triage Team are the first port of call for individuals looking to access treatment, therefore you will need excellent communication and motivational skills to encourage and motivate hard to reach groups into treatment.
In addition to completing assessments the role will have its own caseload and support individuals who have substance use issues, and who need recovery related support as well as advice and guidance.
The successful candidate will use their experience at the assessment stage to provide high quality evidenced based substance use treatment to adults with mild to moderate dependence on substances in line with national guidance. This will include brief and extended advice and structured treatment.
The post holder is required to be competent and autonomous in dealing with more complex cases and will have the experience and knowledge to competently advise more junior members of the team.
Key requirements:
• To be the first point of contact and face of the service, with great communication skills and an ability to put people at ease and encourage and motivate them to engage with treatment
• To carry out initial comprehensive assessments to identify support needs
• Have an excellent working knowledge of the cycle of change and understanding of utilisation of information brief advice and motivational interviewing to engage treatment resistant/under represented groups into treatment
• To formulate appropriate and structured care plans ensuring service users receive evidence-based interventions and assist in the delivery of structured care plans
• Deliver key working with service users to build successful and trusting therapeutic relationships
• To maintain appropriate records and case notes in line with the service outcomes, policies and procedures
•To carry out care planning, risk assessment and risk management
• Have responsibility for supporting and mentoring more junior members of staff
• Have extensive experience of working with alcohol or drugs in a similar role at assessment stage
• Have experience of utilising psychosocial interventions (e.g. motivational interviewing, CBT) to initiate change
• Have a genuine passion for working with vulnerable people with substance use problems
• Have knowledge and understanding of the recovery process
• Have a passion for recovery
