It feels not that long ago since we were last celebrating the incredible work that goes on in services and local communities around Nottinghamshire. The Spirit of Recovery Awards gives us a chance to thank all of our partners and friends of recovery who make it all happen.

Since 1998, Double Impact has been supporting people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire with drug and alcohol issues. Over the past 18 years we have collaborated with our service users to develop an approach which takes people on a journey away from helplessness and dependence on drugs or alcohol, into freedom from addiction and a meaningful, fulfilling life.

2016 has been an exciting year for Double Impact. We were successful in gaining a variety of grants that have enabled us to both continue and expand what we offer to our service users including;

  • A Public Health England grant which has enabled us to purchase and develop a building in Mansfield to become the ‘Mansfield Academy’ – the first of its type in the country.
  • The Mansfield Academy also houses our Nottinghamshire ‘Recovery Recruitment’ project, a BIG Lottery funded initiative focusing on preparing and supporting people into employment and beyond.
  • We have begun delivering services in Lincolnshire through the ‘Lincolnshire Academy’ funded through Lincolnshire County Council’s Public Health Grant.
  • We were successful in securing Nottingham City services with our partners Framework and NHS Trust as the ‘Nottingham Recovery Network’.
  • We have opened our PHE funded ‘Digital Inclusion Suite’, a dedicated space equipped with the latest technology to enable service users to become digitally included.
  • We have launched our ‘Recovery Portal’, an App devoted to all things recovery.

Our services would not be able to operate without the commitment of our staff and the hard work of our many Peer Mentors, Community Volunteers and Recovery Support Volunteers. So while Double Impact has lots to celebrate more importantly we want to honour the efforts of our service users, volunteers, staff, organisations and individuals from the local community.

The 2016 Spirit of Recovery Awards will take place on Friday 27th January 2017 between 3pm and 5pm at Cafe Sobar. Following the awards ceremony, Cafe Sobar's monthly event Sobar Social will take place showcasing the very best the Nottingham Creative scene has to offer.

We would ask you to RSVP to isabellaharriss@doubleimpact.org.uk by 30th November 2016 to confirm your place at the Spirit of Recovery Awards.
